During April Art Walk in the Wynwood Arts District, we’re setting up a Robot Thunderdrome Arena to stage a death match between robotics teams to promote a screening of Bots High, a new documentary about robotics competitions, at 10pm that night at O-Cinema. Large robots will use deadly weapons to destroy one another. We will be giving out drinks and encourage other mechanically destructive activities. We are also taking the place of the obnoxious flea market that has taken up residence in that lot.

The BORSCHT Film Festival has selected the thirteen projects—twelve films and one video game— they will create, produce, and premiere at their 2011 festival at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall on April 23rd, 2011. BORSCHT commissioned teams of directors and musicians that will collaborate to create short films about Miami. The twelve films are not music videos, but rather short narratives inspired by music and created by local, cross-disciplinary artists. Productions began shooting in early February and conclude April 3rd. All collaborators are Miami-born, based, or raised, except where otherwise noted. All collaborators are professionals with careers in film, music, dance, literature, radio, biology, dance, visual art, choreography, and video games.
